Hi,I’m a f.4 students. As being a senior form student,my teachers always remind me to plan for the ‘future’,but the ‘future’ is talking about the admission to the universities! And now all my friends are talking about the academic results, the universities, those celebrity tutors..etc
The great pressure flood me,i afraid that my positions in the class will be very low, because lots of my classmates have taken many tutorial classes and hard working.Even though i studied till mid-night,I think that I am not familiar with the studied content.I cannot relax!
Please give me some advice to overcome this…
    Thanks

ha, same here. I’m f4 too so I know what you’re going through.
first. never get a celebrity tutor. once they’re famous they won’t really help that much anymore. anyway, it’s expensive and time wasting. I suggest getting a private tutor, or maybe just someone not so famous.
two. don’t study waaaay until midnight. it’s bad for your health in the long term, and it makes you fat. yes it does. if there isn’t a test the next day, I suggest stop revising by 10pm and turn in by 11. yes it’s early, and tbh I don’t always do that unless I’m really tired, but it’s good for you. and never. ever. ever. study past 12.30. ESPECIALLY when there’s an exam the next day. that happened to me once, and guess what? I fell asleep the next day, WITHOUT FINISHING THE PAPER. needless to say, I failed. so.
three. organise your timetable. hell, I know it seems stupid, but I’ve tried it and it really works. and you’ll find free time to do other stuff as well.
four. find some time to do something you actually like, be it music, sports, tv or whatever. siriusly. it DOES help.
ohgods, I feel like a genius right now ^^ oh and good luck with your midyear exams! 😀 hope I helped 😛

I think the “future” that your teachers are talking about may be their expectations about you. But think out of the square, you’re not the only one who’s concerned about your future, your friends, your classmates, schoolmates, even senior form students like you and me are concerned about our future.
Also, about your difficulties in your studies, you could ask your teachers or classmates. It’s an old remedy but usually we’re afraid of asking because we want to solve our problems independently or because doing so would have “no face”. It’s hard to overcome, but, this is after all growing up – it’s live and learn.
In times of difficulty, just chilax. It’s important to keep your cool during tests and even exams. Try meditating or listening to light music to help yourself relax. Having loads of worries and thoughts swimming in your mind isn’t going to take you anywhere.
Finally, don’t burn the midnight lamp, it’s bad for your health. Try to revise the content on a fixed daily basis, and manage your time! Managing your time also requires you to learn about your strengths and weaknesses too, and allows you to focus on what to study, and what to not study.
      Hope that helps;)

Hi guys. I’m taking my GCSE exams this year, and I’m studying like crazy as I plan for all A*s. I haven’t been pressurized to this by my parents, friends or teachers, but I still feel so much stress for some reason. I feel angry all the time, sometimes sad for no reason and I hate socializing now. Am I suffering from depression or chronic stress?

I really like snacks and the taste of them but it makes me fat and gives me acne, what should I do to make me loose some pounds

    • December 4, 2011 12:49 pm

maybe limit the amount you eat, or eat some healthy snacks, like apples or carrots.

I eat a lot too, but I manage to limit myself to one a day. If it’s hard to limit yourself, maybe distract yourself from the food by being busier, and to lose some pounds, go for a regular walk, or don’t always go everywhere by car. Take the MTR sometimes, or just walk if it’s not that far away.

      Hope I helped!

      Hi Akshata

I might be a little too late- change that to super late to reply you, but I just wanted to say that i understand your feelings. I also have best friends who are sometimes difficult to get along. I do understand that it is very hard to tell them their flaws. Yet, if they sincerely treat as their best friend, I am sure they will understand your feelings. They might take it hard at first, but well in friendship, there is always ups and downs.Tolerance is another way, but when it’s really unbearable, then you know that you have to let them know.

What is important is the way you tell them, your attitude must not be accusing nor threatening. It is very useful to use sentences like ” I feel……when you….” instead of sentences like ” You are…”. This way they will not feel attacked.

It is also very important to find a place where there is less people, better somewhere private. This way both you and your friends can feel comfortable sharing your feelings. It is easier to be honest with each other when you both let your guards down.

One very IMPORTANT thing is to always keep your calm. I know it is very difficult, especially when your friends accuse you. But instead of losing your temper, it is wiser to listen to what they have to say. Cause you never know, they might be annoyed by something you do without you even realizing it. Listen to them, but also make your points clear. Show them that you care about the friendship and them.

Friends are not perfect, even best friends. But it is through these difficulties, we can forge deeper and stronger bonds with each other. If they do not accept your feelings, then they are not worth it.

Hope it’ll help^^, although it would be even better if don’t need to use them now:)
